IQAir enables users to publicly show indoor PM2.5 air quality data on the IQAir map using the Indoor sensor feature. This enhances the platform’s capabilities by extending beyond outdoor monitoring stations to include indoor environments such as homes, schools, offices, and other establishments.

The Indoor sensor feature aims to raise awareness of indoor air quality. While outdoor air pollution often receives significant attention, people typically spend most of their time indoors. Understanding indoor air conditions is crucial for managing personal exposure in accordance with the WHO guidelines and making informed decisions about indoor environments, where individuals have more control.

Who Can Publish Indoor Sensor Data

The Indoor sensor feature currently supports data from all IQAir air quality monitors and air purifiers that are equipped with a functioning air quality monitoring sensor. Anyone who owns one of the following compatible devices can publish their indoor air quality data.

How to Publish Your Device as an Indoor Sensor

Publishing your IQAir device as an Indoor sensor is a straightforward and user-friendly process. Follow these steps to complete the setup:

  1. Initiate the publication process by selecting the “Publish indoor data” option.
  2. Confirm the location of your indoor sensor on the map.
  3. Choose the type of location that best describes your setup (e.g., office, restaurant, education, medical, home).
  4. Assign a public name to your indoor sensor for easy identification on the IQAir platform.
  5. Select the closest outdoor air quality data source. This pairing helps illustrate the impact of your indoor efforts by comparing indoor and outdoor air quality levels.
  6. Upload at least one clear photo of your device’s installation to verify proper setup and placement. All uploaded photos are set to private by default, but you have the option to make photos public if you prefer.
